Work has begun on the south end of town in preparation for the new Baxmeyer Subdivison. The plan is to have sewer, water, gas, electric and fiber optic lines in the ground this spring with the road being completed sometime this summer.
May have asked why the addition is named Baxmeyer. This is the name of the family who owned the land south of Julie and John Holthaus' home for years. John farmed the ground for the Baxmeyer descendants and felt fortunate to be able to purchase the land in recent years.
The City has purchased just under 13 acres, annexed it into the City and is installing infrastructure using TIF funds. The council approved a covenant agreement which will regulate the building of homes to protect those who invest in a lot.
